22 - 27 June 2007

New Writing Worlds is an annual series of international
dialogues and literary projects that brings writers from around the world together to
celebrate the act of writing and to debate the nature of literature
across cultures.
New Writing Worlds 2007 was a six-day celebration of
international writing based around a Literary
Salon of acclaimed
writers from the UK and other countries.
The theme was Exile and Imagination. Exile
can be voluntary or enforced. Imagination can take us away from the
familiar or recreate the things we know and value around us. In an
age of mass movement, is exile an inevitable state for the writer?
NWW 07 offered perspectives from around the world and closer to
home, showcasing writers whose work sheds new light on these
issues.

The five writers in residence who
took part in Worlds 07 have all written work inspired by the event
and it's theme:
On Living Abroad for a Brit by Geoff
Dyer
Imaginary Walks in Istanbul by Gwyneth
Lewis
Out of Exile by Eva
Hoffman
Sisyphus by George

Soon to come: work by
Hari
