New Writing Ventures will not be running in 2008.
New Writing Ventures is our national writing prize, set up to
nurture new talent across a range of genres.
After three very successful years we are taking a break to
evaluate the impact of the programme and to determine its direction
in the future.
"The New Writing Ventures Awards are a fantastic
opportunity for unpublished writers. The winners to date have been
extremely talented and, as agents, we always pay close attention to
those shortlisted" – Euan Thorneycroft, Agent, A M Heath,
now representing Eleanor Thom, Fiction Winner, New Writing Ventures
Over the past three years we’ve worked with twenty seven great
new writers and seen some amazing collections of poetry and novels
published. We’ve seen writers find agents, change genres, discover
whole new areas of interest and most importantly, benefit from in
depth mentoring relationships with established writers that will
continue to have an impact on their writing careers for some time
New Writing Ventures has had the support of some of the
country’s best writers, including Ali Smith, Andrew Motion, William
Fiennes and Patricia Duncker and we'd like to thank all the
participating writers, mentors, judges and entrants to New Writing
Ventures over the past three years, and hope that you’ll keep an
eye on the New Writing Ventures website for further news
about new developments.
