Promising work from these Manuscript Consultation sessions
will be considered for further
development and potential showcasing at the Hotbed Festival by
Menagerie.
Paul Bourne
Freelance Director, Artistic Director of Menagerie and The Hotbed
Festival, Paul has directed and produced over fifty professional
productions in ten different countries. His work has ranged from
productions on the fringe through to major international touring.
Highlights include Guignol (Tennessee Williams) in New York and The
UK, the world touring production of the Complete Works of William
Shakespeare (out of Washington DC), and the European Premieres
Oleanna and The Secret Garden.
Previously Artistic Director at the Frankfurt Playhouse and Center
Stage New York, his focus is on creating and developing new work
for the stage, offering appropriate productions that entertain,
challenge and inspire. Paul also runs the corporate training arm of
menagerie and has delivered training and support for companies at
all levels including Liverpool F.C the BBC, EEDA, Standard Life and
IOM.
Menagerie
The East of England’s leading producer of new drama writing and
producers of the Hotbed Festival. They run a playwright development
programme as well as producing work for regional and national
touring.

Jenkins

The most promising poems from these Manuscript Consultation
sessions will be considered by Alan Jenkins (Deputy Editor &
former Poetry Editor) and Mick Imlah (current Poetry Editor) for
publication in the Times Literary Supplement.
Alan Jenkins
Has worked at the Times Literary Supplement since 1981, first as
Poetry and Fiction Editor then as Deputy Editor. He has
been poetry critic on The Observer and The Independent on Sunday,
and has taught creative writing and led workshops in London, Paris
and the USA (Bread Loaf and Princeton). His books of poetry include
In The Hot-House (1988), Greenheart (1990), Harm (1994), which won
the Forward Prize for Best Collection, The Drift (2000), which was
shortlisted for the T S Eliot Prize, and The Little Black Book
(2001). A Short History of Snakes was published in 2001 and a
new collection, A Shorter Life, was published by Chatto &
Windus in 2005.

Tiffany Murray
Her novel Happy Accidents was shortlisted for the Wodehouse
Everyman Bollinger Prize for Fiction. Her second novel Diamond Star
Halo will be published in 2008. The Guardian said, ‘She’s written a
winner ... it won’t be long before reviewers start turning to
Tiffany Murray’s books when they’re in search of a yardstick.’
Tiffany is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of
Gloucestershire and teaches at Oxford University.
