Kate Feld is a blogger and freelance journalist whose writing has
appeared in newspapers and magazines on both sides of the
Atlantic. She grew up in Vermont and lived in Taiwan and New York
before emigrating to Lancashire in 2003.
She studied the Great Books programme at St. John’s College,
Annapolis, and holds a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia
University in New York, where she was the 2003 Lorana Sullivan
Fellow for Investigative Journalism. She was Founding Editor of
Manchester arts magazine eightytwenty, and has worked
with BBC Radio 4 and the Manchester Literature Festival.
She writes The Manchizzle (manchizzle.blogspot.com), a
blog about Mancunian life both on and offline. She is the
organiser of a programme of blogging events in the Northwest,
including the first annual Manchester Blog Awards and a panel
discussion about political blogs during the Labour Party
Conference. Her freelance writing spans art, criticism, the
media, literature and digital culture. Her piece on fiction blogs
appears in the first issue of Revolve, a new North West
arts magazine. Her first nonfiction book, The Flickheads’
Guide to Classic Movies, is to be published next summer in
New York, and she is currently working on a novel.
